Join us for an evening of Musical Mayhem!
Jet Cities Chorus invites you to experience Musical Mayhem on Saturday, October 28, at the NEW Federal Way Performing Arts and Events Center. Our special guest is GQ Quartet, a female barbershop and contemporary a cappella quartet, who were recently named the 2018 Sweet Adelines International 5th Place Quartet. A tremendously popular group, GQ has traveled the U.S. and have performed in Canada and Germany. They have been featured on A Prairie Home Companion twice, and have made waves on the internet with a YouTube video reaching over 6 million hits.
Also joining Jet Cities on the show are chapter quartets Renegade (who just returned from the Sweet Adelines' international convention with 11th place honors), Wink, and Touchstone. Shows are at 2:00 and 7:00pm. Tickets are $35, $25, $15, and are available now! Click the link below to purchase yours; we expect these to be sold-out shows! About GQ, our featured guestsGQ is an a cappella and barbershop quartet from Baltimore, MD. Their members are Amanda McNutt (tenor), Ali Hauger (lead), Katie Gillis (baritone) and Katie Macdonald (bass). They sing a variety of styles spanning several decades and are four great friends who have a passion for creating a unique sound.
The quartet formed as an a cappella project in the summer of 2012. Since then, GQ has competed--and placed--in various a cappella competitions such as the Harmony Sweepstakes (2013 2nd Place), SingStrong (2013 Champions), Rising Star Contest (2013 Champions), and the International Quartet Contest for Sweet Adelines International (2018 5th Place Quartet). GQ has performed all over the United States and Canada and will soon perform overseas as well. They have served as the guest teaching quartet and clinicians for many harmony camps and are all involved with the arts and education in some capacity for their normal jobs. GQ arranges many of their own a cappella songs and loves to collaborate with other quartets and artists. While they have a name in the barbershop world, they have also made a name for themselves on the internet as well! They made the front page of Reddit with a video that now has over 6.4 million views! They were also featured twice on Garrison Keillor’s A Prairie Home Companion in 2015. To stay up to date with the quartet, you can find updates on their website girlsquartet.com, or LIKE them on their Facebook page, facebook.com/GQquartet. |
Our venue
You are going to love Federal Way's new performance hall and the location for our two shows! The Federal Way Performing Arts & Event Center (PAEC) broke ground in October 2015 and celebrated its grand opening on August 19, 2017. This spectacular one-of-a-kind, 44,000 square-foot center is located at the corner of S. 316th St & Pete von Reichbauer Way S in downtown Federal Way. The 716-seat theater accommodates theatrical, musical, dance, and spoken word performances from the region and around the world. Jet Cities is one of the resident performing groups at this new facility, and we are proud beyond belief to have this new venue right in our own backyard. |
